SET YOUR GOALS IN ADVANCE
Before you start learning to draw, it’s essential to keep a specific result in mind. If you don’t know what you want to achieve as an artist, you may get lost in your journey.
I recommend setting goals such as “I would like to learn how to draw portraits” or “I want my drawings to look realistic.” Once you’ve defined these goals, think of easy ways to achieve them, such as practicing daily from references or taking an online art class. If you need to learn how to pick independently, using connections is an excellent place to start. Some artists don’t like to use references and prefer to draw on memory.
I find references handy for new and advanced artists because they give you a helpful picture of essential details and features. To improve your skills, I recommend that you focus on one thing at a time. If you need to see how to draw the human face, first take the time to draw lips using different expressions and angles. So, practice drawing eyes, etc. Once you have “perfected” (nothing is perfect) each facial element, you will be able to draw a much more realistic face.
USE DIFFERENT TOOLS
I use several tools to perfect my artwork. I use graph paper with an inch grid to see if the aspect ratio is correct or not. You can also measure precise measurements with a ruler if you prefer on graph paper. Another helpful tool is a protractor that helps you measure angles and accurately draw things that need grades. Also, if you like to create circular designs, a protractor will help you draw perfect circles.
PRACTICAL DESIGN
It is a excellent idea to discover how to draw. Draw objects from different angles and points of view. It will help you better understand the thing you are drawing. You can start by looking at pictures of the things you find online. You can also draw from real-life objects in front of you. After you get good at drawing these objects, try drawing some memory-based pictures on them.
