The Fifth avtar of the Goddess Durga

The fifth day of the festival of Navatri the Goddess Skandamata is being worshipped. As Naratri is the sole festival which is being celebrated in whole world with different reason’s like the Durga puja of West Bengal which is very important for the people of West Bengal and in the part of North India the people enjoy the festival as Ramlila in the honour of Lord Ram in victory over The Demon Ravana. In the Goa the people worship Goddess and this puja is called Makhar. In karnataka the people celebrates the festival called Dasara. In Kerala the people celebrates this festival as the Saraswati puja. The people in Maharashtra people celebrates this festival as Ghatasthapana. The fifth avtar of Goddess Durga is Skandamata and the story of there origin is are as follows :-

After the death of the first companion the Goddess Sati, the Lord Shiva they had taken a deep meditation. Then the goddess had taken the second birth as the parvati because of the pray of God’s so that she can bring Lord Shiva out of his meditation and have a child that can kill the demon Tarkasura. It was sage Narad who told to parvati that truth about her previous birth as Sati and the reborn as the Parvati but in order to bring Shiva out of meditation and to make him realise who she really was parvati had perform very extreme penance or tapasya thousands of year passed but Lord Shiva showed no signs of noticing Parvati’s penance leave alone marring her. Tarkasur was getting stronger and God’s were getting worried. So, they decided to ask God Kamdev the God of the love to use their power on Lord Shiva and make him fall in love with the Goddess Parvati. Kamdev agreed on this matter to use his power on meditating Lord Shiva. Due to this the Lord Shiva’s meditation got disturbed and he was enraged. He saw that Kamdev was the culprit and burnt the Kamdev in the ashes by opening their third eye. But since he had opened his eyes from meditation Lord Shiva noticed Goddess Parvati performing the penance for them they wondered that if she was their Goddess Sati in their reborn because the spell casted by the Kamdev. The Lord Shiva fell in the Love with the Goddess Parvati the intense spark that was generated  from their third eye got  combined with the love of the Goddess Parvati and became the seed of a child this spark was so hot that even the God Agni the God of fire could not handle. So, they  handed it over to Goddess Ganga but even Ganga couldn’t handle the Lord Shiva’s spark. So they carried and deposited it the forest of reeds known as “Sharah van”. In Sharah van this spark the seed was cared for by the six sisters known as “Kritika” in the due course of time period this seed became a baby boy the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and since he was cared by kritika the name became “Kartikeya” he also came to know as Kand a word which have many meaning in Sanskrit including a fusing. Since, a boy born out of spark of heat and light diffusing from Lord Shiva’s thid eye he came to be known as Skanda and as their mother Goddess Parvati became Skandamata. Skanda was that Shiva’s child that was destined to kill the deamon Tarka asur. Because, Taraka asur had the boon from Lord Brahma that only the son of Shiva can kill him. This form of Goddess Durga is being worshipped on the fifth day of the Navratri festival.
